JOB DESCRIPTION

The person will have to have computer skills for telecommunication meetings once every 1-2 months. Majority of communication is by emails as a National group.

Our Mission is to improve the quality of life for people with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalopathy/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) their families and carers nationwide, by providing them with information and support, and by educating health professionals, and the wider New Zealand community.

We are looking for people that are empathetic to ME/CFS and would have a passion to help promote ANZMES so that suffers are made aware of the help and services that we as an organization provide. As referenced above our main focus is to educate patients, their families Health Specialists, Support Groups and the general public about the illness; we are active in educating and lobbying the government in gaining more recognition for the illness and bringing in the implementation of practical help for our clients nationwide. WE also work with supporting research and at present Prof Tates team in Dunedin. The ANZMES office is based in Dunedin.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Must be able to relate well with a diverse range of people.

Have oral and written communication skills, and be an effective listener.

Must understand and maintain strictest confidentiality.

Ability to solve problems. Common Sense. Computer skills. Team Player.

LOCATION

To be in your home with the possibility of travelling to AGM site once a year, often in Auckland.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

There is support from fellow committee members and information on the illness itself ( ME/CFS).

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

All Volunteers will be interviewed. A Police check and referees are required. Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed. AGM travel once a year travel expenses and accommodation is paid for.
